31 Years of Sustainability at Murray Uniforms

The topic of sustainability feels very modern – but terms like recycling or climate change have deep roots that stretch back far into the past. At Murray Uniforms, we have been exploring ways to balance economic success, social responsibility and environmental protection for many years. In fact, over the past 31 years, we have already made significant progress.

Murray’s commitment to maximising the value we create and minimising our environmental impact goes back to when our company was founded. We have developed innovative garments throughout our long history that have helped our customers save resources and cut waste.

In 1992 we led the way on sustainability by introducing our first sustainability policy. In this policy, we recognised the importance of environmental protection. We committed to operating a business that was responsible and compliant with all environmental regulations, legislation, and codes of practice.

More recently, in 2023, we introduced a new baler system, helping us to recycle 100% of our card waste more efficiently. We can now reflect on over 30 years of policy and commitment to ensure our business is as sustainable as possible.

We are very proud to announce that through our Carbon Neutral Delivery and Collection Programme, alongside our partner UPS, we were able to mitigate 106.69 tonnes of CO2e during 2022.

The 31-year timeline speaks for itself, detailing the critical steps Murray Uniforms has taken in its sustainability journey. We are by no means finished, there is still much more work to be done, and whilst we celebrate the work done so far, we remain committed to sustainable development.
